Frasca’s new executive chef Marino D’Antonio

For Chef D’Antonio, cooking has been his whole life; finding the greatest pleasure in bringing to the table exquisite dishes filled with the heart and soul of Italy, making no compromises for quality.

Growing up in Bergamo, Northern Italy, D’Antonio has been surrounded and influenced by some of the greatest Italian chef’s in the world. Since the age of 14 admiring the greats, the likes of Umberto Bombana, Heinz Beck, and Chicco Cerea.

After studying at The Culinary Institute of S. Pellegrino, D’Antonio worked alongside Michelin-Starred chef’s all-around Europe, including his idol, Bombana. He made his mark in Asia in 2006, where he opened two award winning Italian restaurants – Sophia’s Il Vostri Momenti Italian and Sureno – and has been bringing authentic Italian dishes to the people of Beijing ever since, especially his signature mini meatballs. D’Antonio turned heads and made a name for himself as executive Chef in one of Chef Bombana’s most esteemed restaurants, Opera Bombana in Beijing, which D’Antonio quickly made his home.

A traditionalist, Marino D’Antonio cherishes cooking classic dishes with generations of history, adding a dash of creative flair to capture the flavors of both Italian and Asian cuisine. His personal dishes and attention to intimate detail tunes perfectly in to the feel of The House Collective. Which is why Chef Marino will also be collaborating with us to open a brand new Frasca in The Opposite House, Beijing, in Autumn of this year.

Having worked with us successfully before in Beijing, we are thrilled to have him back in our kitchens, in both Shanghai and Beijing, delighting our guests and diners with the rich, authentic flavors of Italy.
