THE MYTH OF STARS, MAN FUNG YIThis intimate piece by Hong Kong artist Man Fung Yi at Upper House Hong Kong welcomes guests as they ascend to their rooms. Its comforting, pillow-like form and ageless metallic texture together create a sense of gentle serenity.
SEEDS, DANNY LEEInside the Mi Xun Spa courtyard at Upper House Chengdu are two pairs of stone sculpture seats by Hong Kong artist Danny Lee. “Seeds” in black Shanxi granite and “White Lotus” in Chinese white marble together represent yin and yang, capturing nature in stone and offering guests a cool, serene place to sit in the gardens as part of their spa journey.
FIRE OVER FIRE, LINDY LEEHanging above the fireplace at Upper House Shanghai are paintings by Chinese-Australian artist Lindy Lee. Using a joss stick as her 'paintbrush', Lindy perforates small holes across the surface of the paper, making each piece a textural meditation on fire and a reflection of her Chinese heritage.
