PURE SELF EXPRESSION
There’s a reason why art flows through everything at Swire Hotels. Art, in all its beautiful forms, is perhaps the greatest expression of one person’s individuality. Behind every art piece is a story of individuality that we so proudly celebrate. You’ll find art through every room and reception, in The House Collective's "Encounters Across Cultures" and EAST art programme. You'll even find it in the individual properties themselves, reflected in the work of the world's leading architects and interior designers.
ENCOUNTERS ACROSS CULTURES
"Seeds of Life" at The Temple House
7 Nov, 2019 to 3 Jan, 2020
BEIJING MEMORY NO.2, LI XIAOFENG
Hubei artist Li Xiao Feng’s playful, life-size “wearable art” is a homage to history. A sculpture made of shattered blue-and-white porcelain pieces from the Ming and Qing dynasty that were found in a construction site, this one-and-only art piece at the Opposite House is a reminder that what was once lost can be re-found and re-invented.
RISE, HIROTOSHI SAWADA
Japanese artist Hirotoshi Sawada’s metal wall sculpture, Rise, runs along the atrium of The Upper House. In between the skylight and the pool, the sculpture is both a silhouette journeying upward and a twinkling stream coursing downwards to the pool.
LEAF, WU HAIYING
Under the open canopy of the sky, the mirror-polished Leaf lies gently on the ground of The Temple House Chengdu. A reminder from local artist Wu Haiying of the fragility of seasons and the rediscovery of senses.
VASES IN STEEL CAGE, LIU DAO
Interactive art collective Liu Dao likes to challenge their viewers with unusual classical subjects. By contrasting the delicacy of porcelain vases with the harshness of the rusty cage, the sculpture invites guests at The Middle House to a conversation about entrapment and escape.
EAST presents Art at EAST: 'Urban Remix’
"On the Edge: The Hopeful Forest" with Carlos Betancourt at EAST, Miami
2 Dec 2019 to Jan 2020
MADE IN CHINA, SUI JIANGUO

Designed by Sui Jianguo, one of the most promising sculptors of the 21st century, the pieces instil brightness, warmth, and a touch of humour into the space.
DRIP, ZHENG LU
The stainless steel sculpture in EAST Beijing is inspired by the myth of JiuXianQiao area where the ‘wine fairy’ dropped his wine gourd into the river and turned it fragrant forever. The piece is made of over 20,000 connected characters taken from the “Ode for Alcohol Morality” by Liu Ling from the Wei and Jin Dynasties.
INTO THE LIGHT, VESNA MILINKOVIC
An exploration of the cosmic sense of being through change and innovation, British artist Vesna Milinkovic’s gestural and abstract piece brings guests at EAST Miami to another dimension.
