THE UPPER HOUSE

Up close with Luke Bailes at The Upper House

As part of the Up Close series, The Upper House invited the founder and executive chairman of Singita, Luke Bailes, to share his inspiring conservation journey across four countries in Africa.

He is joined by Neil Harvey, chairman of African Parks Asia Pacific Advisory Group, to discuss the importance of preserving and protecting the pristine land and wildlife populations.

Bailes founded Singita, meaning “place of miracle”, in 1993 with a single lodge in South Africa. The company provides luxurious lodges and camps with sustainable wilderness guest experiences. Bailes has been supporting a high-volume, low-impact hospitality model by bringing guests and conservation work together in an ethical and sustainable way.

With Singita’s commitment to its three core pillars — biodiversity, community, and sustainability, it is now one of the world’s leading conservation and ecotourism brands. In addition, Singita partners with many non-profit organisations such as African Parks and Grumeti Fund to contribute to different conservation programmes and initiatives.

For what the future holds, we look forward to seeing Bailes and Singita continuing their empowerment on conservation and sustainability for our future generations.
