EAST Hong Kong presents “The Art of Eco Couture”
"The Art of Eco Couture" exhibition by EAST Hong Kong is extended until 13 May! In Collaboration with Redress, and Angus Tsui, a local fashion designer, "The Art of Eco Couture" showcases works from the Redress Design Award 2017 and pieces created by EAST's very own team.
Redress is a Hong Kong-based NGO working to reduce textile waste in the fashion industry. Their Red Dress Design Award is a competition that challenges designers to create fashion forward looks with zero waste techniques and up-cycling methods.
Angus Tsui founded his own fashion label in 2014 and has worked with H&M, Ford, Swire Properties and Cathay Pacific to create up-cycled products.
In light of making fine art more approachable, the exhibition at EAST Hong Kong circles around the idea of wearable art, also known as “art to wear”. It refers to fashion pieces created as an expression of art, conveying deliberate messages through a revolutionary concept. The use of recycled and sustainable materials allows the public to bridge art with daily life, further increasing their awareness towards the current textile wastage problem and the impacts of fast fashion.
