EAST launches 'Ideas To Wake Up To', an event series for creativity and business leaders to co-create together (English Only)
Following a successful first edition in Hong Kong, the event series will come to Miami just before they city’s Art Basel events kick off
(Miami, November 2021) – EAST, the business lifestyle hotel brand under Swire Hotels has launched its newest programme Ideas To Wake Up To with the theme “Creativity & Business.” The networking events are designed to bring business leaders and creatives together for a series of short, casual talks and informal networking sessions to connect and inspire each other's communities. In collaboration with The Art Gorgeous HOUSE — a member’s club for the global art and creative crowd that has a footprint in 12 cities around the world — the first edition of the EAST networking event series was held at Domain, EAST Hong Kong on 6 October 2021.
The next edition of the series will take place at EAST Miami on 30 November 2021, followed by EAST Beijing in early December 2021.
EAST Miami is thrilled to have Tam Gryn, the Director of Fine Arts at Rally.io, as the guest speaker at the first Miami session this year. Originally from Venezuela, Tam’s current role at Rally.io is to help artists create their own autonomous crypto economies. She is also Head Curator at SHOWFIELDS, the design-oriented retail concept in Miami and New York City that blends commerce and art to create an immersive shopping experience. From curating art exhibitions to collaborating with the likes of The Whitney Museum, Glossier, Heineken, Diptyque, and Mastercard – Tam is a pioneer of new economic models for the creative community and brings innovative ideas for how creators can be empowered to effect positive change in wider society.
During the event, the EAST community will spend a productive morning with Tam, learning about why there’s so much more to art+crypto than NFTs, and how creators can find new audiences through retail. She will lend her expertise on what crypto and retail offer for financial independence; crypto as an economic model empowering creators; and crypto’s influence on culture and aesthetics – blurring the boundaries between ‘high art’ and digital pop culture. Following the session, guests will have the opportunity to continue their discussions over coffee and bites.

With the insights and sharing of authentic experiences from the guest speakers, Ideas To Wake Up To seeks to accentuate EAST's positioning as an international brand of modern business hotels for today’s world. In the next session at EAST Beijing, guest speaker Qinmin Liu, an artist and entrepreneur based in New York and Beijing, will share her views on being an independent artist and making moves to build a business empire spanning multiple industries, from airline to beauty.
